We invite you to take part in the event "La magia della maglieria" (The magic of knitwear) which will be held on Wednesday 26 October 2022 at the Carlo De Carli Lecture Hall and which will see the participation of Marina Spadafora, fashion designer and ambassador of ethical fashion in the world, together with Valeria Iannilli, Coordinator of the Fashion Design Course and Giovanni Maria Conti, Coordinator of the Knitwear Design Laboratory.

The event organised by the Bovisa Candiani Library aims to present the donation of over 5,000 knitwear samples documenting Marina Spadafora's flair and creativity.

Marina Spadafora is an ambassador of ethical fashion in the world. She had her own fashion label that was distinguished by the prevalence of knitwear considered experimental and avant-garde.
Over the years, she has collected more than 5,000 knitting stitches that testify to her relentless research and passion for this noble art. In this article Marina talks about fashion, sustainability and knit design, referring to her archive and the donation of her work to our university.

She has worked as a senior design consultant with Ferragamo, Prada, Miu Miu and Marni. She was creative director of Auteurs du Monde, the fair trade brand of Altro Mercato, working with artisans around the world.

Marina's work has always included a strong focus on social and ecological issues, believing that ethics and aesthetics can coincide. ** Her motto is 'Fashion with a Mission'.
She received the United Nations Women Together award in 2015 in New York and has done some TEDx Talk on sustainable fashion.
In 2020 she wrote the book "The revolution begins in your wardrobe" with Luisa Ciuni published by Solferino Libri. She is the Italian national coordinator of Fashion Revolution.
