The new Stanze della Vita ("Rooms of Life") in the A. Manzoni hospital in Lecco will be inaugurated on 24 June. The project was curated by the Department's research group Labir_int, which drafted the guidelines for the Rooms.
The Stanza della Vita (Room of Life) arose from the need to create a sensitive space for the difficult encounter between medical staff, nurses and relatives of patients admitted to the intensive care unit.
The Room of Life is the place where discussions take place between the medical team (2/3 people) and the relatives (2/3 people) of potential organ and/or tissue donors.

The aim is to create a welcoming place where Taking Care also passes through the quality of the environment. The project, made possible thanks to the action of AIDO volunteers who involved various actors in the area, was realised so that it could become a prototype that could be replicated in other contexts, thanks also to the drafting of a protocol that will serve as a guideline for those who will be in charge of renovating or designing a Room of Life.
The result is the outcome of the co-design work between healthcare personnel, AIDO volunteers, researchers, designers and students of the Politecnico di Milano.
