June 6, 2024, 6:30 pm @ Parco Nord Milano, Cascina Centro Parco, via Clerici 150, Sesto San Giovanni
On the occasion of the inauguration of the 18th edition of "Festival della Biodiversità" and the meeting with the initiative's promoters, Gabriele Colombo, Researcher of the Department of Design, and María De Los Angeles Briones Rojas, Post-doc fellow from DensityDesign lab, will present the exhibition "Api, Glicini, Cemento: Dibattiti sulla Biodiversità Urbana".
The display explores four debates within the metropolitan area of Milan, stemming both from policies aimed at safeguarding biodiversity and urban interventions that question the relationship between the need for a city to change and the need to preserve ecological systems.
Students from the Communication Design course have reinterpreted the most relevant fragments of these debates in the form of installations. The aim is to provide an overview of each topic.
The installations narrate a visible portion of the debate through the web on four specific themes: the Falk Village, high meadows in Milan's urban parks, Forestami, and the Olympic Village for Milan-Cortina 2026. Fragmented and sometimes contradictory narratives emerge, allowing us to reflect on how the issue of biodiversity increasingly affects our lives and how the now indispensable digital platforms mediate these discussions.
The exhibition will continue on June 8-9 and 15-16, 2024, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
