November 24th, 2023 – Juanary 14th, 2024, Salone Ex-Cavallerizza, via Fratelli Cairoli 9, Brescia
The traveling exhibition "Senzatomica. Trasformare lo spirito umano per un mondo libero da armi nucleari" a product of the collaboration between Professor Anna Barbara, Annunziata Albano, the research group Lab.I.R.Int, and LAB Exhibit, will be inaugurated during the annual Festival della Pace which will take place from November 24th to January 14th in Brescia, the Italian capital of culture in 2023, along with Bergamo. Subsequently, it will tour the main Italian cities.
The exhibition is part of the awareness campaign Senzatomica, and its set-up creates a path which crosses the main themes outlined in the Preamble of the TPNW, the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, to spread awareness about the importance of this legal instrument, aiming to raise awareness that leads Italy to ratify it.
In 2016, Senzatomica launched the "Italia, Ripensaci" campaign in collaboration with Rete Italiana Pace e Disarmo, a mobilization to raise awareness among Italian municipalities about the threat posed by nuclear weapons. In 2017, thanks to a partnership with the global civil society coalition ICAN, Senzatomica participated, as part of civil society representatives, in the negotiations for the drafting and adoption of the TPNW.
The initiative is promoted by the Italian Buddhist Institute Soka Gakkai, which in 2007 initiated a decade-long program for nuclear disarmament education through exhibitions, awareness campaigns, and forums involving citizens worldwide.
