From 16th to 18th May, Aula Carassa e Dadda, Via Lambruschini 4, Milan
The Politecnico di Milano will host the international conference: The Promotion of Made in Italy (1948-1960). Stories of Italian Craftsmanship and Design for the 21st Century.
An opportunity to reflect on the narratives of postwar Italian design, in the wake of the popularity evidenced by the auction sales and exhibition events in which it is often featured.
Having become a punctual and documented part of the training paths of design schools, many of the objects produced between 1948 and 1960 have established themselves as true icons and are now exhibited within museum itineraries and exhibitions of decorative art and design in Italy and abroad.
Starting from specific cases, over the course of the three days of the conference, speakers will contribute with their interventions to highlight the presence of a widespread heritage linked to Italian know-how, demonstrating how research and studies on these themes transcend disciplinary boundaries and how specific narratives can now be translated into a choral narrative that benefits from the contribution of different voices and different methods of research, mapping, analysis, communication and promotion both locally and globally (in a physical, digital and/or virtual dimension).
Free event with reservations required. To register for the conference (in-person or online), please fill out this form.
